There are many craftsmen living within and around the surrounding areas of the Blackdowns and East Devon who depend on locally produced timbers for their living. The Blackdown and East Devon Woodland Association exists to support all those involved in the woodland and timber industries in the Blackdown Hills & East Devon .

This ranges from the production of wood pulp for paper and chipboard to the production of valuable timber to supply the needs of the various craftsmen in the area. As well as logs for burning, which is a low carbon way to produce heating and cooking in the home.
