Welcome to the Blackdown & East Devon Woodland Association

The very nature of the area means that there are a great many smaller woodlands, the association aims to help the owners keep in touch with each other with regular events, meetings and social gatherings. Most of the wood coming from these woodlands is used for fire wood with a small amount going to saw mills, the association is actively promoting the areas woodland resources.

If you work in the wood and timber related business please join our group and make use of our website to sell and advertise your wares.

Working our Woodlands

There are exciting things happening in the Blackdown and East Devon woodlands. Some of the smaller woods are gathering together to form larger parcels of woodlands to make it easier to manage through the "Working our Woodlands" project. Also within the project a Woodland contractors/suppliers directory is in the process of being compiled, this will make it easier for woodland owners to find the man for the job.

Blackdowns Woodland Fair - 3rd July 2010

Above and below are pictures of the recent Woodland Fair held on the 3rd of july this year (more photos in photo gallery). The fair was a great success with over 1,000 people enjoying the the day and having a go at all the different woodland skills. There were  also demonstrations on everything from basket making to large Saws in the saw yard. The Association has had very positive feed back, and would like to thank all involved in organising the event as well as all the exhibitors.
